Composer Danny Elfman on The Simpsons, his partnership with Tim Burton and his first violin concerto
Danny Elfman is the composer of many film and TV scores, including The Simpsons, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas and the new Dumbo movie. Now he's taking on a new challenge: his first violin concerto.
Danny Elfman has been composing music for nearly four decades. From The Simpsons to the eccentric realm of Tim Burton to the superhero universe of Spiderman and Avengers, Elfman has brought fictional worlds to life with music.
After decades of scoring film and TV, Elfman has stepped away from sculpting other people's worlds to create one of his own. He has a new album out now called Eleven Eleven and it's his first violin concerto.
Elfman joined q host Tom Power to talk about his long career in music and why he decided to take on a new challenge.
