Rhythm Express brings Soul Explosion 69 to studio q

Musical collective Rhythm Express performs live throughout the show.
This Friday we enjoy live performances throughout the show from Rhythm Express (Fabiola Carletti/CBC)

Rhythm Express takes over studio q with their new record Soul Explosion 69. The musical collective performs three powerful songs: Black Woman, Hard Times and Woman of the Ghetto

The bandmates also speak to their deep love of classic soul and reggae and how that music formed the socially conscious backbone of the Canadian soul/reggae scene.

WEB EXTRA | Rhythm Express is a relatively new collective, but their roots run deep. It was over 40 years ago that leader Bill King and drummer Everton "Pablo" Paul first performed together. Here they are on the CBC in 1974.
