- Yesterday, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize winners were announced. The winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama is the Broadway hit Hamilton, which audiences have been flocking to for its diverse cast, hip-hop sound and dazzling performances. Other Pulitzer winners include Viet Thanh Nguyen's The Sympathizer for fiction, Joby Warrick's Black Flags: The Rise of ISIS for non-fiction and for music, Henry Threadgill's In for a Penny, In for a Pound.
- Doris Roberts has passed away at the age of 90. She was best known from Everybody Loves Raymond as Ray's mother, Marie. Roberts was also a a tireless animal rights advocate and was the chair of the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation.
- There is now scientific proof of Freddie Mercury's outstanding vocal skills. A new study has unearthed a handful of amazing discoveries, like the full extent of Mercury's range and his use of subharmonics, a singing style where the ventricular folds vibrate along with the vocal folds — a skill typically reserved for throat singers.
