Kevin Costner says "race has no business" in some situations

Actor Kevin Costner reflects on playing the good guy... and responds to concerns that his latest two films -- McFarland and Black Or White -- promote the so-called "white savior" myth that reinforces racial stereotypes on and off screen.

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner is no stranger to playing the good guy. Whether you know him as a reluctant bodyguard, a baseball diamond-building farmer, or a man who dances with wolves, you've seen the actor follow his heart on the big screen.

But over the years the actor's also taken some heat for allegedly promoting "white saviour" narratives, in which a lone white hero steps in to save the day.

Today, Costner joins guest host Rachel Giese to respond to that perspective, describe the pull of his latest projects -- McFarland and Black Or White -- and explain why he doesn't fall "out of love" with films once he's committed to them.
