Gin Phillips tests the limits of motherhood in new novel Fierce Kingdom
Phillips talks to q guest host Gill Deacon about her new book Fierce Kingdom
Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips has just been published but it is already set to be a summer blockbuster. The film rights were snapped up before the book even hit the stores.
Fierce Kingdom deals with the premise of a mother taking her child to the zoo, but the day suddenly goes awry when gunshots ring out. The action in the book is wrapped up in some complex moral questions about being willing to do anything to protect someone you love, even if it means putting someone else's loved ones in danger.
Phillips talks to q guest host Gill Deacon about Fierce Kingdom's themes of random violence, motherhood, survival instincts and how being the mother of a young child herself affected her writing.
