Sometimes a voice can open a door. This is true for Canadian singer-songwriter Ahkinoah Habah Izarh, who goes by the name AHI (pronounced "eye"). He first turned heads when he covered his hero Bob Marley. He shot a video with his young daughter singing No Woman No Cry and it became a bit of a sensation online.

After that, AHI took fate into his own hands and independently released his first record, which opened up more doors and led him into a coveted gig performing live on NPR's Tiny Desk series. Now, the Brampton, Ont., native is about to release his second album, In Our Time, which comes out  Friday, July 13.

Today, AHI joins guest host Laurie Brown live in the q studio to give a little sneak preview of his new album.
