In a typical romance story, two people meet, fall helplessly in love, get married and ride off into the sunset to live happily ever after. But in real life, the story never really ends there, does it?

Rebecca Addelman is the director of a new film called Paper Year, which shows what comes after that happily ever after. It follows a young couple while they navigate a tricky first year of marriage. It's Addelman's first feature film and her first time sitting in the director's chair, although she's no stranger to bringing complicated love stories to life. She's also written for TV shows like New Girl and the Netflix series Love.

Today, Addelman joins guest host Laurie Brown live in the q studio to talk about her new film. Paper Year opens in theatres across Canada on Friday, June 22.
