How Chris Colfer created his Land of Stories
Chris Colfer rose to fame playing Kurt Hummel in the hit musical TV series Glee. Kurt was one of the first openly gay teenage characters on TV and Colfer won a Golden Globe award for the role. However, the roots of his current career as an author began when he was a child. Colfer started creating an intricate imaginary world as a kid coping with bullying, and he has brought that world to a huge audience of middle-school readers with his best-selling series The Land of Stories.
The last book in the series, Worlds Collide, hits bookstores today.
In an interview with q, Colfer looks at the roots of his dream of becoming a writer, how he hopes his books will help kids now and how he is bringing the series to the screen as director and writer of an upcoming film adaptation.
