A Doll's House finally gets its sequel, 140 years later

Sequels are nothing new, but it's not often a play gets a sequel nearly 140 years later. 

A Doll's House, Part 2 is running on Broadway and if you're wondering, yes: Part 1 refers to Henrik Ibsen's 19th-century classic, A Doll's House. In the original play, lead character Nora slowly realizes there's something deeply wrong with her marriage. In 1879, audiences were shocked when Nora, a mother, walks out the door at the end of the play, leaving her husband and her children. 

The new play picks up the characters 15 years later, when Nora comes back into her family's life. It stars Laurie Metcalf as Nora and Chris Cooper as Torvald. The play is up for eight Tony Awards this Sunday, including best play and nominations for both Metcalf and Cooper.
