Federal election draws Canada's athletes to polls
Canadian athletes fulfill yet another national duty
Canadian athletes represent us all over the world.
But on Monday, they were out voting for whom they want to represent them.
Oct. 19 marked the final day to vote in the 42nd Canadian federal election, which ended with Justin Trudeau's Liberal party winning a majority government.
No matter how busy our athletes are, they found time to vote — and tweet.
Lizanne Murphy is on the Canadian women's basketball team, but is currently playing in France. Even though she's not at home, she found a way to vote.
Retired Olympian Clara Hughes knew she also wouldn't be in Canada on Monday, so she pre-voted last week.
Vote Canada Vote! It's that day...get out and flex your voting muscles. We pre-voted last week and will be watching from the USA <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/elxn42?src=hash">#elxn42</a>

On the other hand, kayaker Adam van Koeverden was on Canadian soil, so he made sure to vote before fulfilling his obligations as a Jays fan.
We have the right to time off work to practice democracy today. Go vote Canada! Don't wait for <a href="https://twitter.com/BlueJays">@BlueJays</a> to start! <a href="http://t.co/bSGkwrmhpH">pic.twitter.com/bSGkwrmhpH</a>

Walk-racer Evan Dunfee balanced voting with a much less fun chore.
Had to go to an adult dentist today for the first time ever. Growing up sucks. They didn't have cartoons on OR a PS3 in the wait room.

I guess with all this new found adultness, I'll go vote too. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/elxn2015?src=hash">#elxn2015</a>

Dunfee was joined by other members of Canada's athletics team, who were at the polls in full force. Long distance runner Natasha Wodak, decathlete Damian Warner and javelin thrower Liz Gleadle all tweeted about the election.
Up early and voted! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/CanadaVotes?src=hash">#CanadaVotes</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ElectionCanada?src=hash">#ElectionCanada</a>

Joining the track athletes was softball Canada's Erika Polidori. The outfielder encountered the anticipated high voter turnout, but wasn't phased.
Today's the only day I will welcome a lineup <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/elxn2015?src=hash">#elxn2015</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/GOVOTE?src=hash">#GOVOTE</a> 🇨🇦☑️

Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard also made it a point to document her vote.
