Canadian women down Fiji to reach Atlanta Sevens semifinals

Toronto's Ghislaine Landry scored three tries as Canada defeated Fiji 29-0 on Saturday to reach the semifinals at the Atlanta Sevens women's rugby event.

Toronto's Ghislaine Landry scored three tries as Canada defeated Fiji 29-0 on Saturday to reach the semifinals at the Atlanta Sevens women's rugby event.

The Canadians opened the competition Friday going 3-0 in pool play. They'll face Australia in semifinal action.

Canada improved to 5-1 against Fiji.

Emma Jada of Guelph, Ont., and Bianca Farella of Montreal also had tries for Canada.

Fiji didn't touch the ball until the three-minute mark of the first half but by then Canada led 12-0 on two Landry tries. She added a third as the Canadians led 19-0 at halftime.

Jada and Farella both scored in the second half.
