Rosie MacLennan finishes 6th at trampoline World Cup event

Canada's Rosie MacLennan wasn't thrilled with her sixth-place finish Sunday in the finals of a trampoline World Cup event in Brescia, Italy.

The Toronto athlete stood seventh after the qualification rounds and managed to improve to sixth in the finals, scoring 53.375.

"Overall this competition left me wanting more," said MacLennan. "I know where I need to put my focus for next week's World Cup in Switzerland and the following weeks of training at home. I am happy that I had the chance to compete my three triple routines but definitely left some room for improvement."

Held for the first time in Italy, the World Cup event played as a preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro where MacLennan will look to defend the gold medal she won at the 2012 Games in London.

She'll need to perform stronger come August to come home with another gold; this weekend's competition was dominated from start to finish by China's Li Dan, who handily won the finals 56.975, well ahead of Russia's Yana Pavlova, who scored 55.525. Li was also the top competitor in both of the qualification routines. 

Keegan Soehn of Red Deer, Alta., was the top Canadian male, finishing 37th with a score of 96.435.
