Forbes' Top 4 Under 4
As we know, a good start in life is so important. If a child doesn't make the annual Forbes' top 4 under 4 list, their goose is pretty much cooked, and a bounce-back at 5 or 6 is terrifically unlikely. With that in mind, let's take a look at the only four kids worth paying any attention to!
Jennifer, 2
We received a record number of complaints when Jennifer didn't make the list last year at age 1, given her notable achievements in the sandbox. But we knew she had three more years to achieve things that would dwarf that sort of child's play.
And this year she did it, mastering macaroni shell art and riding the big slide. We look forward to seeing what Jennifer can do over the next two years before retirement—and don't be surprised if those years include a return visit to this list.
Elliot, 4
Elliot's questioning of his own place on this list ("Is 4 even under 4, though?") showed that he has the kind of chutzpah, attention to detail, and ruthless self-analysis that we expect from a notable under-4 (or close enough).
He's obviously a senior member of the class, and although some members of our panel thought his time might have passed, Elliot's used his many years to achieve the sorts of longevity-related feats the others may take years to achieve, like reading every book on the kids' shelf in the school library (except the Shel Silverstein and Dennis Lee).
Vanessa, 0
Vanessa is on this list based on pure potential, but that potential is simply blinding.
According to the things her parents say she has an interest in (soccer, baseball, soccer-baseball, figure skating, and drawing, all at 1.5 months!) she's already one to watch, but the important thing is that she has 46.5 more months to show us what she can do in those fields before the door slams shut.
Permanently.
Kwame, 3
Meeting with Kwame was the closest our panel has ever come to meeting with someone you know is a future President of the United States. It was like if you crossed paths with Lincoln in 1812.
His relaxed approach (he wouldn't change out of his pajamas for our interview) combined with a cool confidence (jets on the pajamas) showed that Kwame is someone to be reckoned with in approximately 32 years, presuming the minimum presidential age isn't changed, and also presuming other rules are changed (Kwame is Canadian).
