19 more Stanley Cup riot charges laid
Charges include taking part in a riot, break and enter, assault and mischief
Nineteen more people have been charged for their alleged involvement in Vancouver's Stanley Cup riot that made international headlines in 2011.
The B.C. Criminal Justice Branch says 17 adults and two young people face charges including taking part in a riot, break and enter, assault and mischief.
During the June 2011 riot, hundreds of people looted stores, torched cars and assaulted others following the Vancouver Canucks' loss to Boston in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup final.
So far, police have recommended charges against 352 people, and the Criminal Justice Branch says charges have been approved against 277 of them.
To date, 202 people charged have pleaded guilty and 141 of those have been sentenced.
Only one riot-related trial has been completed, and the accused, a 26-year-old man, was found guilty.
