Compass Card November transit passes now available, says TransLink
Number of users expected to grow when the new fare cards become more widely available by Nov. 1
Compass Card users can now buy their monthly transit passes for November, says TransLink, and soon they'll be able to do so at more locations.
By Nov. 1, the new fare card system will be available to purchase at all of TransLink's FareDealer locations, like Safeway and 7-Eleven.
Currently, Compass Cards and fares are available for purchase in the following ways:
- TransLink's website.
- By phoning TransLink.
- In person at the Compass Customer Service Centre at the Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station.
- Compass Vending Machines at most SkyTrain stations.
- Compass Vending Machines at select London Drugs stores (18 Lower Mainland locations).
TransLink's other system of FareSaver cards is still available.
The transportation authority said more than 250,000 people are already using Compass Cards, and that number is expected to increase as they become more widely available.
The $194-million Compass Card system has been fraught with problems for more than two years. The system was originally scheduled to launch in September 2013.
In October, TransLink introduced one-zone fares for bus riders to mitigate further delays. Compass Card holders no longer need to tap out as they get off the bus.
TransLink says the one-zone fare system for buses is just a temporary measure until it does more consultations next year.
