Evergreen line test-run footage offers sneak peek
The SkyTrain extension is slated to open in December
Although the Evergreen line still doesn't have an official opening date — officials say it will be sometime before Christmas — there is a glimmer of hope for commuters.
The City of Port Moody released a video depicting a non-stop test of the line from the Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station to Burquitlam Station.
The Evergreen Line — which will link Coquitlam, Port Moody and Burnaby — was originally slated to open this summer.
However, a series of construction issues, caused primarily by a number of sinkholes during tunneling, repeatedly delayed the opening.
TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond said the new extension, which will extend the existing Millenium line, will not cause capacity problems on any other lines.
Desmond said seven new trains have been purchased to accommodate the Evergreen extension.
But he remained vague about exactly when the line will open.
"The Evergreen extension will open up sometime in December," he said.
