Three pleasure boats went up in flames in Cowichan B.C. on Halloween night in a suspicious fire.
Cowichan RCMP on Vancouver Island are investigating after a hotel staffer noticed the boats, anchored offshore from the Cowichan Bay Marina, on fire at 7:20 p.m. The trio of vessels were tied together and had been anchored offshore from the marina for some time.
The Ocean Front Hotel employee alerted police that the third craft was drifting away.
"Witnesses said in just a matter of minutes after they noticed the flames, [the boats] were engulfed," said Cowichan RCMP Corp. Colin Cook.
Nobody was aboard the boats.
The owner of two of the crafts, which sunk and have not been recovered, has been notified.
