The ex-boyfriend of Maple Batalia is expected to be sentenced Monday in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster for the second degree murder of 19-year-old Maple Batalia.
On Thursday, Gurjinder "Gary" Dhaliwal pleaded guilty to the second degree murder of Batalia who was shot to death at an SFU parkade in Surrey in 2011.

An autopsy revealed Batalia was cut 11 times on her head.
In a joint submission both Crown and defence have asked for a sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole for 21 years.
Dhaliwal's lawyer asked the court to sentence his client at the time of his plea but the Batalia family requested sentencing be delayed until Monday so Maple's sister could travel to Vancouver from out of country.
Bedi trial to begin
The trial for the co-accused in the case, Gursimar Bedi, is also scheduled to begin Monday. He is facing charges of accessory after the fact and manslaughter.
Dhaliwal, 24, was originally charged with first-degree murder.
Crown portrayed him as a jealous ex-boyfriend who confronted Batalia on a number of occasions, and called and texted her hundreds of times after they broke up.
