The Crown has laid sexual assault charges against Daniel Ghoukassian, 25, believed to have attacked three women along Vancouver's Cambie Corridor in the city's Oakridge area last week.
Ghoukassian was arrested on Friday, after a patrolling officer noticed he matched the description given by the three women recently assaulted.
Police say the women were attacked at random — and in two cases in the middle of the afternoon. All the assaults took place along Cambie Street:
- On Monday, May 12, a 22-year-old woman was pushed into some bushes and sexually assaulted near W. 37 Avenue and Cambie Street, at around 5:15 p.m. PT.
- On Wednesday, May 14, a 19-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted near W. 45 Avenue and Cambie Street at around 11 p.m.
- On Thursday, May 15, a 38-year-old woman was assaulted at W. 42 Avenue and Cambie Street, around 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon.
It's believed Investigators are also looking into whether the three assaults are connected to a series of attacks last year.
