Mount Washington up for 'best place to ski' in North America
Vancouver Island resort takes on Aspen in race for the best skiing on the continent
Mount Washington, or "Washy" as some call it, is in the running to be named best ski destination in North America.
Powder Magazine's Ski Town Throwdown is down to two finalists, with Mount Washington going up against Colorado's Aspen Resort.
The competition is based on votes and Mount Washington beat out other popular resorts including B.C.'s Red Mountain and Revelstoke resorts.
Eugene Chung, the events and social media coordinator for Mt. Washington, says social media has really come through for the hill.
"It's been about pulling on people's heartstrings and getting people to want to vote to support us, and it's been working," he told CBC's All Points West.
In an online video made to bolster support, spokesman Brent Curtain boasts: "How's it going Aspen? Did you know we even existed before we made it to this final?"
