It's that time of year again, when cherry blossoms burst and turn Metro Vancouver into the scene of a giant make-believe wedding.

Residents throughout the region have been basking in the glory of the iconic spring flower, pumping out gorgeous blossom-ladden posts across social media.

In Vancouver, the Cherry Blossom Festival is in full swing until April 23, presenting various events across town.

On Saturday night, thousands of people attended the festival's Spring Lights Illumination event in Queen Elizabeth Park, which featured lit blossoms and free performances.

The event continues Sunday night.

Cherry blossoms bloom anytime between January and May in Vancouver, depending on the weather.

This year, they have conveniently coordinated with Vaisakhi and Easter.
