Two elderly West Vancouver residents died in a house fire early Thursday morning.

Two elderly West Vancouver residents died in a house fire early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home on the 6200 block of Overstone Drive shortly after 2 a.m. PT.

One woman was quickly pulled from the home and provided with emergency medical treatment. However, the 81-year-old succumbed to her injuries from the fire and was pronounced dead at the scene, said West Vancouver police.

An 81-year-old man was found deceased in the home soon afterwards, they said.

Family members have since been to the home, but police did not release the identities of the two victims, pending further clarification of the family's wishes, they said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
