This week felt a bit more like winter in Calgary, as temperatures dipped below –17 C and ushered in an abrupt halt to the fairly mild conditions southern Alberta had been enjoying so far this season.

The blast of Arctic air also made for some wonderful photo opportunities across the region. Calgarians awoke to a spectacular dusting of rime ice that crystallized overnight, outlining tree branches and needles in shimmering white.

Undeterred by the chill, some took advantage of the opportunity to head outdoors and play in the fresh snow, with their pets and their cameras.

Here's a small selection of the photos we received from you this week. As always, thanks for sending them along.
