Downed trees on tents forces campsite closures in Banff
100 Johnston Canyon campers relocated, campground closed until further notice
Parks Canada has closed Johnston Canyon until further notice to clean up trees downed by bad weather.
The campground needed to be evacuated after tree debris came down on some of the tents.
Over 100 campsites have been relocated.
"No injuries, which is wonderful. We are very fortunate," said spokesman Greg Danchuk. "We can't take any more chances until we've gone through the whole campground, until we've assessed and brought down a number of more trees."
He says campers with reservations will be accommodated at other campgrounds in the national park.
"It won't be possible this weekend to camp in the national park if you haven't already got a reservation because we've had to take any of our available spots for those who were planning to camp at Johnston Canyon."
Parks Canada's will be updating the trail condition report on their website.
