Calgary police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a suspect after a man was found dead Wednesday in a home filled with pepper spray.

Police say they were called at about noon to a home on the 1800 block of 39th Street S.E. in Forest Lawn to investigate a report of a man in medical distress.

When they entered the home, officers realized it had been pepper-sprayed and immediately felt the effects of the spray lingering in the air. The officers kicked open windows and doors in order to ventilate the building. Once they were able to search the home, they found a deceased man inside.

Two children and two women who were in the home were also contaminated by the pepper spray, as were the five responding police officers. One of the women in the home also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital in stable condition, say police.

Police are seeking Deibi Francisco Monterroso Salazar, 29, as a suspect.

Police say one of the women in the home was estranged from the suspect. They also say the deceased man was one of her friends.

Salazar, who also goes by David, is Hispanic, 5'8" tall, weighs 64 kg and has black hair and brown eyes.

Police are asking anyone with information about Salazar's whereabouts to contact the homicide tip line at 403-428-8877.
