Mom of baby in dumpster faces 2 murder charges
30-year-old already faced attempted murder count
A mother accused of dumping her newborn in a northwest Calgary dumpster last fall is now charged in connection with the deaths of two other infants.
Meredith Katharine Borowiec, 30, was charged with attempted murder last week after a lengthy investigation.
The charge stems from the discovery by a man last October of a crying newborn in a bin in the 500 block of 40th Avenue N.W. The man later discovered he was the baby's father.
He told authorities he did not know his partner was pregnant.
On Tuesday, police said Borowiec now faces two counts of second-degree murder stemming from the discovery that the woman had given birth twice before. It is alleged both babies died shortly after they were born. Their bodies have not been recovered.
Borowiec appeared in court on the latest charges Tuesday morning.
