Court sees video of statement made to police
A Calgary mother on trial for killing two newborn infants admitted to police that she put one of those babies into a dumpster.
Meredith Borowiec is charged with second-degree murder in relation to two babies that police allege were born to her in 2008 and 2009.
Their bodies have never been recovered.
Prosecutors are relying heavily on videotaped statements which Borowiec made to police in 2010 after a third newborn baby was found alive in a dumpster.
In video played for the court Monday, Borowiec admitted to investigators she gave birth in 2008 and that she put that baby in a dumpster as well.
The trial is expected to continue for three weeks.
Borowiec will be on trial again later this year for attempted murder in relation to the 2010 incident.
