Tornado watch still in effect for several areas

A tornado warning has ended for an area southwest of Edmonton.
The warning, issued at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, covered Wolf Lake, Cynthia, Brazeau Dam, Drayton Valley, Breton, Alder Flats and Winfield. The warning has since been downgraded to a tornado watch.

In the event of a tornado, Environment Canada said it's recommended you take the following actions:
- Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet.
- Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can.
- As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.
Many parts of the province are currently under a heat warning. There are several other severe thunderstorm watches and tornado watches in effect in Alberta.
