Extra trips up and running for West Harbour-Niagara Falls GO train
6 trips added to weekend schedule, Metrolinx says

GO trains are now running more frequently between Niagara Falls and Hamilton after a new track was added at the West Harbour station.
As of Saturday, the line has six additional trips on weekends between the two stations and four more trips on weekdays, said Metrolinx in a recent news release.
Niagara Region trips that stop at West Harbour, in Hamilton's north end, are also eight minutes faster.
"Previously, West Harbour GO was not connected to the main track west of the station, forcing Niagara-bound trains to reverse into and out of the station," said Metrolinx, Ontario's transit agency.
"With the new connecting track completed, trains will be able to travel directly through the station without needing to reverse, resulting in a more efficient journey."
Before the track addition, trains ran hourly from West Harbour and only to Toronto, while trains from Niagara Falls and St. Catharines didn't stop at West Harbour.
The track work is also necessary to connect the new Confederation GO station in east Hamilton to the Lakeshore West line. The new station is expected to open this year.
