Police say they began investigating in April after several victims came forward

A 44-year-old Hamilton teacher faces three counts of sexual assault as Hamilton police say they're investigating alleged incidents at Rockton Elementary School.
Hamilton Police Service say they began investigating after several victims came forward to report a sexual assault that occurred at the Flamborough public school, the service said in a news release Wednesday evening.
The 44-year-old Hamilton man was teaching at the school at the time, police said. Officers arrested him Wednesday and also charged him with three counts of sexual interference.
A teacher by the same name as the accused is listed as a member of "good standing" by the Ontario College of Teachers. The regulatory board defines that as meaning a member who can teach in publicly funded schools, pending any conditions or limitations.
Police ask anyone who might have information that could help investigators to reach out.
"Hamilton Police want all survivors of sexual violence to know that we believe them and we will respect their choice when and how they report an incident," police said, adding offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of an offence.
