Kitchener man charged in 2023 fatal shooting in parking lot

A 22-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with criminal negligence causing death in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in a Kitchener parking lot in September 2023.

A 22-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with criminal negligence causing death in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in a Kitchener parking lot in September 2023.

Waterloo regional police were called to the area of Ottawa Street N. and River Road E. for reports of a shooting at 2 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2023.

One person was transported to hospital. Police said the man was pronounced dead in an out-of region hospital.

On Friday, police arrested a man and a woman in connection to the case.

The 22-year-old Kitchener man was charged with:

  • Criminal negligence causing death.
  • Failure to comply with release order.
  • Robbery with firearm.

A 22-year-old Kitchener woman has been charged with accessory after the fact.

The two were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
