Police investigating 'targeted' shooting in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating what they call a "targeted" shooting in Kitchener that happened on Thursday evening in the Monte Carlo Street and Victoria Street South area.

Police are investigating a shooting in Kitchener that happened on Thursday evening.

Officers responded to a call in the area of Monte Carlo Street and Victoria Street South around 8:40 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire. 

When police arrived they found that a group of youths were gathered outside a residential complex when an unidentified man approached them.  

Police say the man fired several gunshots into the ground before fleeing the area on foot. No one was injured. 

"Investigators believe this was a targeted incident," said a release sent out by Waterloo Regional Police on Friday morning.

According to police, this is the sixth shooting in the region this year and the fourth with no injuries.

So far, no arrests have been made and police haven't shared a description of the suspect. Officers will remain in the area of the shooting for the rest of the day and are asking anyone with any information to call police or Crime Stoppers.
