Shots fired after home invaders in Kitchener caught in the act, pursued on highway

Police say they are investigating two linked shootings that happened in Kitchener Saturday night, one during a home invasion near Breckenridge Drive and another on Wellington Street North after a highway pursuit.

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating two linked shootings that happened Saturday night in Kitchener.

Police say three armed suspects broke into a home near Breckenridge Drive. When the homeowner returned, a confrontation ensued and the suspects fired shots. Police say two victims suffered minor injuries during the altercation.

The suspects then fled in a vehicle that was followed on the highway until it exited onto Wellington Street North where the suspects fired shots once again, according to police. Police would not specify who followed the vehicle.

No other injuries were reported.

Officers with the WRPS Robbery Unit are in the Breckenridge Drive and Wellington Street North areas as the investigation is underway.

Police are asking anyone who may have information or video footage of the shootings to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
