Several trains cancelled after one hits person west of Guelph Central GO station

A person has been struck by a train west of Guelph Central GO in southern Ontario. Emergency personnel are at the scene and trains cannot move through the area until the investigation is complete.

GO Transit is reporting a person has been struck by a train west of Guelph Central GO station.

Metrolinx said the train had left the Kitchener GO station at 7:09 a.m. ET. It was scheduled to arrive at Union Station at 8:47 a.m.

"The area is in the hands of emergency personnel," said a statement from Metrolinx.

Trains cannot move through the area until the investigation is complete.

A number of scheduled departures have been cancelled, including:

  • Union Station 09:34 departure to Kitchener GO, 11:25 arrival. The train will end at Georgetown GO and will not stop at Etobicoke North GO in suburban Toronto.
  • Kitchener GO 11:49 departure to Union Station, 13:35 arrival. The train will begin at Georgetown GO.

Earlier, Kitchener GO train routes were cancelled, and passengers and shuttle bus service was organized at a number of locations.

Metrolinx continues to update its daily eastbound and westbound shuttle bus routes. Travellers are asked to check Grand River Transit service alerts for the latest information.
