Police said the caller, who appeared drunk, was arrested. Investigators then did a sweep of the area, which led them to Dykens' nearby home, where her body was found.

They also found a critically injured dog.

Melissa Joyce Gabriel, 35, has been charged with manslaughter, killing or injuring an animal and two counts of probation violation.

Investigators believe she stabbed Dykens multiple times in the upper body sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. After leaving the home, Gabriel returned home and attacked her dog, police said.
