RCMP say the weekend death of a 44-year-old man in a Garden Hill jail cell is not considered suspcious.

RCMP say the weekend death of a 44-year-old man in a Garden Hill jail cell is not considered suspcious.

Police said the man was placed in the holding cell by local band constables in the early hours of Aug. 27 for being intoxicated. Garden Hill has a bylaw that prohibits the consumption of alcohol in the community.

He was found dead shortly after 9 a.m. Aug. 27.

An autopsy was conducted in Winnipeg on Aug. 29 and no foul play is suspected although toxicology results are pending.
