Silver alert cancelled after missing 79-year-old Winnipeg man located

Winnipeg police have cancelled a silver alert issued Thursday morning for a missing senior.

The 79-year-old man, who had last been seen around 7:15 p.m. CT Wednesday near the McPhillips Street and Inkster Boulevard area in the city's northwest, has been found and is safe, police said in an updated news release.

No information was provided about when or where he was located.

A previous version of this story included the man's photograph and name.

Those have been removed in order to protect his privacy now that he is no longer missing.
