Two teens were shot and airlifted to a Winnipeg hospital from Pimicikamak Cree Nation earlier this week. 

Mounties got reports of shots fired around 4:50 a.m. on Nov. 25 near a residence in the Wapack region of the northern Manitoba community, also known as Cross Lake, an RCMP news release said Wednesday. 

Officers patrolled the area, but didn't find anyone, because no other information was given by the person who called RCMP, the news release said.

At 6:20 a.m., officers received a report from the Pimicikamak nursing station that two shooting victims had been taken there by vehicle. 

An 18-year-old from Winnipeg and a 16-year-old from Sagkeeng First Nation were in stable condition, with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, the news release said. 

However, the health of the 18-year-old deteriorated to critical but non-life-threatening. The two teens medevaced to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
