An 81-year-old Neepawa-area man who was reported missing Friday has been found dead, Manitoba RCMP say.

An 81-year-old Neepawa-area man who was reported missing Friday has been found dead, Manitoba RCMP say.

George Haslen was reported missing to Spruce Plains RCMP shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, Mounties said in a Saturday news release.

He had last been seen around 3 p.m. on Friday, when he left his home driving his pickup truck. RCMP and his family started exhaustive searches, police said Saturday morning.

In an update Saturday afternoon, RCMP said searchers had found the pickup truck around noon, with Haslen inside, on a rural road northwest of Rapid City, about 45 kilometres from Neepawa.

Local first responders immediately gave him medical assistance, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

An RCMP spokesperson confirmed his family was notified.

Police did not indicate a cause of death.
