The Winnipeg Football Club has made a $4.5 million payment to BBB Stadium Inc. for their new stadium on the University of Manitoba campus.

The Winnipeg Football Club says they’ve paid off $4.5 million on their new stadium at the University of Manitoba.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers moved into Investors Group Field in June 2013, but the football club couldn’t afford the field at the time.

The province ponied up most of the cash, with Triple B Stadium Inc., a consortium of the University of Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba, put in charge of overseeing the construction of the field and the finances.

Officials with the club said the payment was made using revenues from entertainment tax, facility fees and other means.

Since its opening, the field has hosted Bomber games, Bisons games, Beyonce, Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift.

Next year, the field will host the Grey Cup.
