Winnipeg police looking for teen after machete attack west of Polo Park

The attacker is described as about 15 to 17 years old, with a skinny build and shaggy dark hair, between five feet, six inches, and five feet, 10 inches tall, police said.

Winnipeg police are looking for the youth who attacked a man with a machete outside a 7-Eleven on Portage Avenue west of Polo Park.

Officers were called to the convenience store Thursday around 10:45 p.m., police said in a release Sunday.

The attacker had fled on foot before police arrived, the release said. He is believed to have been with two other teenagers when the assault occurred.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police said a passerby had helped the man by using a belt as a makeshift tourniquet.

The attacker is described as about 15 to 17 years old, with a skinny build and shaggy dark hair, and five feet, six inches, to five feet, 10 inches tall, police said.

He was wearing a black Tupac T-shirt, torn black jeans and dark sandals, with white or grey socks. The suspect was also carrying a grey backpack.
