The dog that attacked an 8-year-old girl in a Brossard park has been euthanized, Longueuil police said late Wednesday.

The 100-pound dog was put down with the owner's permission. Police did not have further details.

The attack took place on Sunday at Parc Marquise. The girl was seriously injured on her hand, neck and face, and had to undergo surgery.

Police seized the dog on Sunday after several hours of negotiation with the owner, who initially refused to surrender the animal.

He was later arrested for an unrelated incident.
