Habs vs. Sens: There's no place like home
Atmosphere in Ottawa muted during Game 4 of the Habs-Sens series
I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you are a hockey fan and you live in Montreal you are blessed.
The Bell Centre has possibly the best pre and in-game atmosphere in the NHL. It was a stark contrast to the muted pre-game festivities outside the Canadian Tire Centre tonight.
That energy continued on the ice in the first period of the Habs-Sens Game 4 tonight. The physical onslaught I was expecting from the Senators never materialized.
The home team was content to let 20 minutes of albeit good but toothless hockey expire without much more than an undisciplined penalty to show for it.
The Senators were in control for much of the second period but it wasn't until Mike Hoffman scored midway through the 3rd that the building woke up with thunderous applause.
The 1-0 score held until the final buzzer and the Sens live to fight another day as the series shifts back to Montreal for game 5 on Friday night.
The Habs futility continued with the man advantage, failing to capitalize on three power plays and Max Pacioretty said the team lacked that killer instinct tonight.
Let's hope for the sake of Habs fans they find it Friday at the Bell Centre.
