Man, 36, charged with 1st-degree murder of partner on Montreal's South Shore
Woman believed to have been killed around Nov. 7, though her body was found Sunday
Shilei Du, 36, was charged Monday morning with the premeditated murder of his partner, Guangmei Ye, whose body was found Sunday in a residence on Fontenelle Street in Candiac, Que.
Guangmei Ye, 29, was a data analysis expert at investment banking compay Morgan Stanley.
Local police, with the Régie intermunicipale de Police Roussillon, arrived at the Fontenelle Street residence after receiving a call at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Candiac is on Montreal's South Shore.
Once there, police discovered the victim's body and immediately transferred the investigation to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
At the scene, police arrested Du. Provincial police technicians went through the house and investigators met with the man, according to an SQ spokesperson. The victim's death is believed to have occurred around Nov. 7.
In September, Shilei Du had been charged with criminal harassment in a domestic violence context, accused of making death threats against his partner. On Oct. 15, he was released pending trial.
