Montreal police investigating death of woman found injured on street in LaSalle

Montreal police are investigating the death of a woman who was found unconscious and seriously injured on Saint-Patrick Street in LaSalle early Sunday morning.

A 37-year-old man was arrested nearby for driving under the influence of alcohol

A 37-year-old woman who was found seriously injured in Montreal's LaSalle borough early Sunday morning has died.

Montreal police received a 911 call at around 1:15 a.m. reporting an injured and unconscious woman lying on the ground on Saint-Patrick Street, near Vézina Street. 

Paramedics rushed her to hospital where she later died of her injuries. 

Montreal police spokesperson Jeanne Drouin said a 37-year-old man was arrested nearby for driving under the influence of alcohol. 

He is expected to meet with investigators on Sunday.

How the woman sustained her injuries remains unclear. A perimeter was set up at the scene to allow for the investigation.
