SPVM investigating homicide across from its headquarters in downtown Montreal
The victim, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police say

Montreal police are investigating the homicide of a man, after he was found just across the street from their headquarters in the Ville-Marie borough.
At first, the man's death was being treated as suspicious, but police have since confirmed it to be the city's 11th homicide of the year.
A seriously injured man was found around 5:15 a.m. on the steps leading to Place des Arts near the intersection of St-Urbain and Ste-Catherine streets. The steps are directly in front of the main entrance to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal's (SPVM) headquarters.
He was unconscious and suffering from what police spokesperson Manuel Couture described as unknown injuries to his lower body.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Couture said.
The scene is currently protected and investigators with the SPVM's major crimes unit are looking into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
