Longueuil police identified her as the woman who was brutally beaten to death Tuesday night. Dalcourt, a Longueuil resident, was walking along the bike path when she was attacked.

She was found by a witness around 10 p.m. Tuesday on a dark, quiet stretch of the bike path that runs through Paul Pratt Park in Old Longueuil.

Dalcourt had been savagely beaten. She died in hospital from her injuries a short while later.

Longueuil police have increased security since the fatal incident.

Officers are patrolling the area, and lighting has been improved.

Trees that might have obscured bike path lighting have had their branches cut back or been cut down completely.

Police are still looking for suspects and ask anyone with information to go to a police station or call 911.
