Former daycare operator facing 14 assault charges in Memramcook

The former operator of a daycare in Memramcook is now facing 14 criminal charges related to alleged inappropriate physical discipline of children and assaulting an employee with a weapon.

Charges against Celine Lang, 56, involve 12 children, one employee

The former operator of a daycare in Memramcook is now facing 14 counts of assault, involving children that were in her care and a former employee.

The case of Celine Lang will be back before Memramcook provincial court on Feb. 24.
Ten new charges were laid against Celine Lang, 56, on Wednesday.

RCMP allege Lang used inappropriate physical means to discipline 12 children at her daycare, La Couvée de La Vallée inc., on Lavallée Road.

She's also accused of assaulting an employee, and assaulting that employee with a weapon — a flower pot.

Lang did not appear in provincial court to answer to the charges. She moved to Quebec after shutting down her daycare, her defence lawyer told the court.

Her next court date is scheduled for Feb. 24.

Lang was initially charged in December with five counts of assault, involving three children and one adult.

But the investigation has been ongoing.

The incidents are all alleged to have occurred between July and September last year.

There is a publication ban on the names of the alleged victims.
