Repairs from ruptured water pipe nearing completion, Department of Justice says

Saint John's new courthouse will reopen on June 24, according to the Department of Justice.

Cases will also start being heard in the building that day, said department spokesman Dave MacLean.

The Law Courts building has been undergoing repairs since a water pipe ruptured on Dec. 30, causing extensive damage.

It was supposed to open on Jan. 1 and many staff had already moved into the building.

The burst pipe caused damage from the fifth floor to the third floor and forced staff to relocate back to the old law offices.
