Alleged drunk driver under Canada-wide ban

Police in Corner Brook impounded a vehicle Saturday afternoon after determining that the man operating it was under a Canada-wide driving ban — and under the influence of alcohol.

Police in Corner Brook impounded a vehicle Saturday afternoon after determining that the man operating it was under a Canada-wide driving ban — and under the influence of alcohol. 

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary stopped the 49-year-old St. John's man around 1:20 p.m. on University Drive, where it was determined that he was showing signs of alcohol impairment. 

The man faces impaired driving charges, operating a vehicle over 80 milligrams and driving while prohibited. He was released to appear in provincial court at a later date.
